May Campout - Watkins Mill

Description

Watkins Woolen Mill State Historic Site is a National Historic Landmark with a 19th-century mill and farmstead. Located near Lawson, Missouri the park also features a 100-acre lake surrounded by a 3.8-mile paved hiking/biking trail.


We will be taking a tour of the Woolen Mill and have free time to enjoy the park. During our free time we will be working on any needed signoffs or reviews that might be needed before Bartle as well as have time to play and maybe go fishing.


Friday
- 5:30pm Arrive at church - Load trailers
*Note: Please eat before you come we will NOT be stopping for food on the way
- 6:00pm Troop departs
- 7:00pm Troop arrives at camping location, sets up camp
- 9:30pm Cracker Barrel
- 10:00pm Lights out


Saturday
- 7am Wake-up & breakfast
- 9am Work on sign offs, Totin’ chip, reviews, etc.
- 10:30 Free time
- 12:00pm Lunch
- 2:00pm Museum and Video
- 3:00pm Tour of Mill
- 6:00pm Dinner
- 10:30pm Lights out


Sunday
- 7am Wake-up and breakfast
- 9am Troop breaks down camp and loads trailer
- 9:30am Troop departs for Hy-Vee
-10:30am Troop arrives at Hy-Vee

 

PACKING LIST:

  • Class A Uniform - wear for travel to campout
  • Water bottle
  • Extra clothes/layers dependent on weather
  • Flashlight or head lamp
  • Mess kit (both parents and scouts)
  • Coffee cup for parents (optional)
  • Sun protection/hat
  • Sleeping pad
  • Sleeping bag/pillow
  • Toiletries
  • Tripod or stool (chair with back for Eagle & adults only, other scouts bring stool)
  • Medications - clearly labeled
  • Optional items for free time - fishing pole, football, frisbee, yard game, card game, etc.
